See how much you need to bet to clear a bonus, what that wagering is expected to cost, and whether the bonus is worth more than it costs.
Worth claiming if you were going to play anyway.
Expected cost = total wagering × house edge (100% − RTP). Expected value = bonus − expected cost. A simplification: it ignores the chance of busting before you finish, max-bet rules, and expiry. For entertainment budgeting only.
How to read the result
Every bet you place to clear a bonus costs you the house edge on average. A 96% RTP slot keeps about 4 cents of every dollar wagered. So a $500 bonus with 15x playthrough means $7,500 of bets, which is expected to cost about $300. That leaves the bonus worth about $200 on average.
Double the playthrough to 30x and the expected cost doubles to $600: the same "$500 bonus" is now worth less than nothing. That is why we score bonuses on their terms, not their headline number. Read the full guide.
What is a playthrough (wagering) requirement?
It is how much you must bet before bonus money turns into cash you can withdraw. A $100 bonus with 15x playthrough means $1,500 in total bets.
Why does game contribution matter?
Most casinos count slots at 100% toward playthrough but table games at 10 to 20%, or not at all. At 20% contribution, every $1 you bet on blackjack only counts as $0.20, so you need five times as much wagering.
How accurate is the expected value?
It is an average over many players, not a prediction for you. It ignores the chance you bust before finishing, max-bet rules, and expiry, so treat a small positive number as roughly break-even.
