How we make money
Short version: casinos pay us when readers sign up through our links. It never costs you anything, and it never changes our scores.
Affiliate commissions
StraightPlay is an independent comparison site. Many links to casinos on this site are affiliate links: if you click one and open an account, the casino may pay us a commission. Depending on the agreement, that can be a one-time fee per new player, a share of the casino's net revenue from players we refer, or a mix of both. You pay nothing extra, and you get the same offer you would get going to the casino directly (sometimes better, if we have negotiated a code).
What commissions do not affect
- Scores. Every casino is scored with the same published formula. The weights are the actual weights the site uses to calculate scores.
- Rankings. Lists are ordered by score. A casino cannot pay for a higher position.
- Inclusion. We include well-scoring casinos even when we have no affiliate relationship with them.
- Criticism. Every review lists real downsides, including for casinos that pay us.
How to tell which links are affiliate links
Outbound casino links go through addresses beginning with /go/ and are marked rel="sponsored". "Claim offer" and "Visit site" buttons are affiliate links. Links to sources, regulators, and help organizations never are.
Compliance
We follow the FTC's Endorsement Guides and its rule on consumer reviews and testimonials: our disclosures are clear and placed beside the links they describe, and we do not publish fake or purchased reviews. We do not promote casinos to players in jurisdictions where they are not legal, and where state regulators require marketing affiliates to register, we register before promoting in that state.
