The short version: VGW, which also runs Chumba Casino, closed LuckyLand Slots in stages between August and September 2026. The site and redemptions shut down on September 14, 2026. Any Sweeps Coins not redeemed by then were lost.
The shutdown timeline
| Date (2026) | What changed |
|---|---|
| July 28 | Shutdown first reported. |
| August 3 | Gold Coin purchases ended. |
| August 24 | Gameplay ended. |
| September 14 | Redemptions closed and the site shut down. |
Is LuckyLand coming back?
As of October 18, 2026, luckylandslots.com redirects to luckylandcasino.com, a separate VGW brand, and the LuckyLand Slots app no longer appears in the US App Store. We have seen no announcement that LuckyLand Slots will return.
Why sweepstakes casinos are closing
LuckyLand's closure came during a wave of state action against sweepstakes casinos. Thirteen jurisdictions now ban them, and VGW itself faces attorney-general lawsuits in Kentucky (June 2026) and Florida (August 2026). Each new ban shrinks the market a brand can serve. See the full law tracker.

Lessons for players
Don't let Sweeps Coin balances sit. Redeem once you pass the minimum, keep identity verification current, and watch for state law changes. A closure or state exit usually gives only a few weeks' notice.
